He is recognized as a new leading figure in contemporary Chinese calligraphy and painting art, endorsed by Tie Ning of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. His works and biographical records have been included in publications such as "A Century of Classics: The Complete Collection of Chinese Calligraphy," "World Biographies of Notables," a special issue of the magazine "Outlook," and over seventy other publications including the special edition "The Backbone of China," the "China Art Yearbook," and the "New Encyclopedia of Chinese Artists." For decades, Mr.Rong Sanshun has remained dedicated to his craft, striving for a perfect balance between tradition and innovation, thereby developing a distinctive artistic style that has earned widespread acclaim from all sectors of society. In contemporary Chinese calligraphy, Mr.Rong stands unparalleled, having forged his own unique style. His work embodies the grandeur and refined elegance of the Jin dynasty calligraphy, the robust and expressive strength of Yan Zhenqing's style, and the dynamic spirit of the revered cursive script master Huai Su—characterized by coherence and captivating charm. Formally, his calligraphy emphasizes brushwork intent, embracing the modern principle of "simple and convenient writing" while avoiding excessive continuity or circular strokes—a approach that meets contemporary demands and resonates with both professionals and the general public, embodying the principle of art serving the people.
Professor Rong is a renowned artist deeply dedicated to the field of calligraphy, viewing it as an extension of his life and persistently cultivating it throughout his career. While preserving traditional calligraphic techniques, he deliberately pursues individuality, artistic merit, aesthetic appeal, and contemporary relevance, integrating various script styles into his works and achieving mastery in cursive, running, and regular scripts. Professor Rong Sanshun has also made outstanding contributions to advancing artistic and cultural development and exchange; his works have won numerous awards in international and national competitions, garnering significant recognition from authorities and the art community. His remarkable achievements in calligraphy have brought honor to the nation.
Mr.Rong Sanshun's calligraphy encompasses various styles including regular script, running script, and cursive script, demonstrating profound mastery of each style with exceptional proficiency in all. His techniques are highly professional; his works are numerous yet not superficial, showcasing his versatility and excellence. When viewing his creations, one notices a balanced approach that avoids rigid formalism while maintaining dynamic movement. The brushwork exhibits precise control in its curves and directions, with seamless transitions between strokes that flow naturally, embodying a strong sense of fluidity and artistic coherence in his running script. The composition is elegant and well-proportioned, flowing like clouds and water; the placement of weight is accurate, evoking the posture of a dragon playing in water. The interconnected strokes are executed with remarkable fluidity, creating a vivid and captivating visual experience. His brushwork is meticulous—no stroke is rendered carelessly, and every character demonstrates refined execution. The gentle, elegant charm of his running script is fully manifested in his work.
Mr.Rong Sanshun's calligraphy mirrors his cultivated inner state. When brush and ink detach from one's emotional state, the writing loses its meaning and its essence. Thus, his cursive script embodies a spiritual realm of inner vitality through the interplay of black and white, dots and lines. With a temperament transcending the ordinary, his brushwork naturally surpasses the mundane—richness contains fluidity, and exuberance achieves organic unity. The lines of his cursive script possess remarkable tension while maintaining an elegant grace. Each stroke resembles a horse galloping freely across a grassland: the movement of brush and ink combines light elegance with majestic boldness, flowing yet firm, vigorous yet restrained, harmonizing heart and spirit. The strokes balance strength and suppleness, embodying his inner ethos and following the natural order. Like falling flowers and drifting snow, each stroke exhibits dynamic variations; like pear blossoms swaying in the wind, its form is beautiful while its spirit profound—a true master who reveals the soul of cursive script.
Mr.Rong Sanshun has long dedicated himself to the art of calligraphy with unwavering diligence. Paper serves as his stage, brimming with the profound weight of life. Through fluid strokes, he captures the poetic essence of ancient culture, drawing inspiration from both classical and contemporary traditions while integrating the best elements from various sources. His work exhibits a strong individuality, distinct contemporary characteristics, and a grand artistic vision. Many in the calligraphy community have highly praised Mr.Rong Sanshun, acknowledging his ability to distill the essence of China's traditional art and transform it into artistic creations that embody modern aesthetic concepts. He is recognized as an artist of exceptional artistic mastery in the new era of China.
